This will be the 5th STATCOM system which Suzlon has installed and commissioned on wind farms in Australia and the first order placed with S&C.
The S&C DSTATCOM has been used in numerous renewable generation plants world-wide to assist the renewable generator in meeting the interconnect requirements for connection to the existing transmission grid. Australia has an extensive set of grid code requirements that must be met before new generation can be connected to the transmission grid. The S&C DSTATCOM will work with the Suzlon S88 2.1MW wind turbines to allow the AGL Oakland Hills wind farm to meet the specific reactive compensation and voltage control requirements specified by this code.
“The S&C PureWave DSTATCOM system enabled Suzlon to meet its strict Australian regulatory code requirements for the Oaklands Hill wind farm, whilst maintaining the highest level of availability for all generating conditions.” said Serel Ogten, Engineering Manager for Suzlon Energy Australia.
“For S&C, Australia has been and will continue to be a key market. S&C has been a presence in Australia for over 40 years with our traditional utility transmission and distribution products. Receiving a major order for one of our key Power Quality products which serve the renewable generation markets was a key objective for our continuing international growth.” said Grant Buchanan, Vice–President International Operations.
